Sir Aubrey – A sad end

The Sir Aubrey was built in 1962 by Richard Dunston at Thorne for Humphrey Gray Lighterage, in 1984 she passed to Thames Marine & Civil Engineering Ltd and in 1988 Carolcraft Ltd (Alan Jubb) , she was bought by General Marine in 2005.

In 2009 slow plans were put in place to alter her wheelhouse and funnel area, the wheelhouse was completed however the doors and funnel were not replaced and the project was put on hold after the red and white topsides were repainted (see photo below)

In 2016 it was decided to remove the Sir Aubreys engine and fit it to the Regarder and return the Regarder to work again.   The engine casing was cut off and the engine removed from Sir Aubrey however the project was put on hold again.

In September 2018 after the tug being advertised for sale as a houseboat failed, the tug was towed to Coldharbour Jetty where she sat for 2 days and on 21/9/2018 she was towed by SWS Breda to E.M.R at Erith to be broken up
